Adoption Fees

We want to inform everybody that we are making changes in the donation system for adopted Burmese cats.

We want to inform everybody that we are making changes in the donation system for adopted Burmese cats.

This is because both the people adopting the cats and the representative handing the cats over do not know what kind of contribution to make. Both sets of people have expressed that they find it hard to do and embarrassing. This has led to the donations being very widely different. For example some people have donated nothing and other people have donated £25 for a pedigree Burmese Cat. On the other hand two people in the last two years have generously donated £500.

We are struck by the unfairness of the system and we are trying to implement something that works better.

Other organisations that do this system mainly seem to have adopted a suggested scale. For example the RSPCA suggest a fee of £90 for a non-pedigree cats.

At the bottom of this note you will see the suggested scale. This is a starting point and we will take into consideration the emotional and physical health of the cats.

If you adopt a cat from us it will have been neutered therefore saving the price of the vets fees for this. Many of the cats also have their immunisations and have been microchipped. A Burmese Cat is expensive to buy & there are significant running costs.

We are making exemptions for elderly, frail & ill cats. These we will support as we do at the present.
